Manifold and Majestic: Coronation of King Charles III

Manifold and Majestic

O Lord, how manifold are your works!

In wisdom you have made them all;

the earth is full of your creatures.

When you send forth your Spirit, they are created;

And you renew the face of the earth.

O Holy Spirit,

bubbling like a spring, tumbling like a waterfall,

meandering like a river, welcoming like the sea,

fill the hearts of your people

throughout your wide world.

I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh,

and your sons and daughters shall prophesy,

and your young men shall see visions,

and your old men shall dream dreams.

(c) Graham Kings 24 Sept 2022, written for the Coronation of King Charles III on 6 May 2023.

Verses one and three are from Psalm 104:24 and 30, and Joel 2:28 cited in Acts 2:17. Verse two is from Pentecost Prose Poem by Graham Kings.

Tristan Latchford has composed an anthem using the words of this poem.
