THE MATURITY OF GOD

When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, 'Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?'  He said to him, 'Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.'  Jesus said to him, 'Feed my lambs.'  John 21.15

Father,

Draw us to maturity

                by the training of your Spirit,

Lead us in your love

                by the example of your Son,

                from sentimentality to compassion,

                from propaganda to evangelism,

                from hurry to urgency,

                from presumption to assurance,

                from optimism to hope,

Through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen
