In our 14th CMS Link Letter, I describe the celebrations of the division of the Diocese of Mount Kenya East into two dioceses of Embu and Kirinyaga, and the increasing atmosphere of political unrest, agitating for multiparty democracy.

In our 12th CMS Link Letter, I describe the Lausanne II Congress on World Evangelilzation in Manila, including the bloodless revolution there in 1986, and further news of the Presidential Commission on the attack on Bishop David Gitari and his family.

In our eleventh CMS Link Letter, I describe the assassination attempt on the life of Bishop David Gitari on 22 April 1989, the local events leading up to it and President Moi's response. 

Norman Winter, a BBC Radio 4 producer, asked me present three Radio 4 short programmes in July 1997 on my three favourite books the Henry Martyn Library. This is my script of the third one, on Archbishop David Gitari's book, In Season and Out of Season: Sermons to a Nation (Oxford: Regnum, 1996). It was broadcast on 26 July 1997.
