Manifold and Majestic: Coronation of King Charles III
I wrote this poem for the Coronation of King Charles III on Saturday 6 May 2023, on the theme of the Holy Spirit being poured out on 'all flesh'. Tristan Latchford has written an anthem using the words of this poem. It may also be used during the season of Pentecost and is being planned to be sung at St Jude's Church, Hampstead Garden Suburb in June 2023.
Herbert's Hilary
I noticed the confluence between the reticence portrayed in George Herbert's poem, 'Love (III)', which begins with 'Love bade me welcome', and the subtle gift of drawing out people who are reticent of a friend called Hilary. Published here with her permission.
Elizabeth The Gracious
Drawing on Psalm 21 (about the King) and echoing the end of The Prayer for the King’s Majesty, at The Book of Common Prayer Morning and Evening Prayerwritten by Katherine Parr concerning her husband Henry VIII, I wrote this poem on 12 Sept 2022, one week before Elizabeth II’s Funeral.
