In our eleventh CMS Link Letter, I describe the assassination attempt on the life of Bishop David Gitari on 22 April 1989, the local events leading up to it and President Moi's response. 

I continue my cumulative memoir, Nourishing Memories, with descriptions of our first year of marriage and my job as a caretaker at All Souls Church, Langham Place, London, where John Stott was on the staff as Rector Emeritus.

Chapter Three of Nourishing Memories describes my 'gap-year', between school and university, in the British Army in West Germany in 1973 and relates how I reconnected with members of my regiment in Dorset 36 years later, when serving as Bishop of Sherborne.

Chapter two of Nourishing Memories explores the period from the age of five to eighteen at infants, primary and secondary schools, together with reflections on our local church choir, sport and friends in France.
